Dan Stoltz is the President and Chief Executive Officer of SPIRE Credit Union, which has eighteen branches, over 107,000 members/customers, and holds assets over $1 billion.
SPIRE was rated the top performing credit union in Minnesota and 15th nationally (out of over 6,000) in 2015. Later that year, Stoltz was named 2015 Outstanding Professional of the Year by the Minnesota Credit Union Network. The Boy Scouts of America honored him with the respected 2016 Spurgeon Leadership Award for service as an outstanding role model for youth. They also awarded Stoltz the 2018 Community Builder Award for outstanding volunteer leadership and long-term concern for the community. In addition, DECA awarded their highest honor to Stoltz as he was named 2017 Executive of the Year for leadership development in area high schools. He was a 2018 Regional Finalist for the Ernst Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Stoltz also made the 2018 ranking of “The 500 Most Powerful Business Leaders in Minnesota”. His personal philosophy that “life is about giving, not getting” is very evident in Stoltz’s leadership at SPIRE. One may recognize Stoltz as King Boreas 79 of the 2015 St. Paul Winter Carnival. This yearlong commitment involved making over 400 public appearances with the Royal Family. Then he served as the 2016-2017 Minneapolis Aquatennial Commodore, which included over 300 appearances.
Most recently, Stoltz was co-chair of the 2018 Ice Palace built for the Winter Carnival and in conjunction with the timing of the Super Bowl.
Stoltz is currently serving on the boards of the Minnesota Credit Union Network, Alloya Corporate (Chicago), Presbyterian Homes, Regions Hospital Foundation, and Ordway and he is the Board Chair of the University of Northwestern-St. Paul.
He is celebrating 34 years of marriage to his wife Robin with three married children and six grandchildren. His family is the cornerstone and support system that allows him to pursue his community endeavors. Stoltz also loves to golf and travel.
Stoltz defines a truly successful leader simply as a person who is a go-getter and go-giver and continues to be challenged by the meaning and goal of being a net-giver.
