We meet at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Roseville, 2540 Cleveland Ave, Roseville, MN 55113. Doors open at 11am, lunch is served at 11:15am and the program starts promptly at 11:30am.
About the Program: “ From Genocide to Resilience: The Ukrainian Youth Experience of War”
For the fifth consecutive year, we are honored to host a group of extraordinary Ukrainian youth leaders. Having lived through years of war, uncertainty, displacement, and loss, these young people continue to demonstrate immense courage, hope, and dedication to rebuilding their homeland.
During this inspiring presentation, the students will share their personal stories of growing up during wartime—from their pre-teen years through high school—and how those experiences have shaped their perspectives on leadership and service. They will reflect on the challenges of adapting to a life defined by conflict while discovering purpose and resilience along the way. They will also discuss how their time in Minnesota through the YouLEAD program has broadened their understanding of community and civic engagement as they prepare to lead Ukraine into the future.
A Connection That Lasts: For many past participants, one of the highlights of their Minnesota experience has been meeting the members of our Optimist Club. They often speak with great affection about what they lovingly call the “elderly people’s club”—a group whose kindness, generosity, and genuine encouragement left a lasting impression. Your support shows these students that compassion knows no borders and that hope can be shared across generations.
About Our Guests: We will be joined by 15 Ukrainian students (ages 15–18) selected from over 600 applicants across Ukraine for this 5-week leadership program. Every one of these students has been directly impacted by the ongoing war.
Why You Belong at This Table: At the Optimist Club, we believe that a purposeful life is a shared one. This is so much more than just a presentation—it is a chance to connect with neighbors, share a great meal, and leave feeling deeply inspired.
Please join us and invite a friend!
If you know someone who values insightful conversation and a friendly atmosphere, they have a seat at our table. Guests are always welcome.
We invite you to sponsor one, or more, of the Ukrainian students for lunch (at $29 each), please add the number of student(s) to the “Qty” section on the registration page and list your name, any guest’s names, and the number of Ukraine student(s) in the “Include Your Name and/or Attendee(s)” section on the registration page.
